Raider Antonio Chandler opened the game with a 21 kickoff return out to the 22 yard line. MLB Aaron Wardrip combined with LBs Dion Alexander and Will Postell to stop Raider FB Kimo Fai Fai for two yards on the game's opening play from scrimmage. On 3rd and 8, Jonathan King and Edward Harris pressured Raider QB Kevin Bickler into throwing an errant pass that was knocked away by CB Terrance Ivory. Raider punter Jef Wood boomed a punt past midfield that was mishandled by Ivory and recovered by Raider WR Andre Winstead at the Jet 37.. The Raider offense executed better with their 2nd chance. Bickler converted one 3rd down with a 13 yard scramble, and RB Alphonso Harris picked up another first down on a 15 yard sweep. After eight plays the Raiders faced 4th and goal at 4 yard line. Edward Harris again pressured Bickler and this time LB Will Postell almost intercepted the ball in the endzone.
 
Raider RB Alphonso Harris gained 15 yards on this sweep during the Raiders opening drive.
 
 
LB Will Postell ended the Raider threat when he knocked away this 4th down pass in the endzone Jet RB Andre Edwards accounted for 15 yards on the Jets' opening drive.  
 
DE Donald Hobart sacked QB Lance Westendorf for an 8 yard loss late in the 1st quarter. On the next play Westendorft scrambled for 17 yards and a first down before being stopped by MLB Ryan Harrington.
 
Westendorf and Freeman Baysinger Jr. connected for 18 yards early in the 2nd quarter. WR Tommy Raines fiinished the 15 play, 96 yard drive with this 18 yard catch and run.
 
QB Wade Sparks hit Baysinger for 24 yards to set up a 51 yard field goal attempt near the end of the 1st half. The Raiders lined up for a 48 yard field goal on the final play of the half. Wood's kick was blocked by Jet CB Terrance Ivory. Raider safety Johnny Lyday got a hold of the ball and headed up field. When he cut back to avoid DL Tony Bates, DE Edward Harris leveled him. After the Jets' opening drive of the 2nd half ended with a punt, Bickler connected with WR Henry Newson for 55 yards down to the Jet 7 yard line before safety Karl Wright made the TD saving tackle.
 
Jet safety Derrick Law allowed RB Alphonso Harris only a 1 yard gain on this play. Aided by pressure on Bickler by LB Dion Alexander and DT Patrick Gilbert, safety Karl Wright ended the Raider threat with this interception in the endzone.
 
 
On the Jets' first play after Wright's pick, Raider CB Antonio Chandler forced WR Tommy Raine to cough up the bal and it was recovered by Lajuane Brown at the Jet 24. Two plays later Bickler connected with Henry Newson to put the Raiders on the board. CB Terrance Ivory blocked the PAT.
