.....The Vikings took the opening possession 76 yards in 6 plays. QB Daimino Stewart swept left for 6 yards to convert a 3rd and 3. Then on 3rd and 10 he found Davie Beeks all alone running a fade and lofted a perfect pass. Beeks cut back behind the block WR Brian Ensley and went in untouched.
.....Behind the running of EJ Ash and Jonathan Wood, the Ravens advanced 54 yards down to the Viking 19 on just 4 plays. The Vikings defense stepped up behind big plays from Ishmael Easton, Chris Stokes, Burley Lockhart and Greg Paribello. The Ravens had to settle for a 48 yard field goal attempt but the kick came up short. Viking safety Brian Carter caught the kick 5 yards deep in the endzone, headed for the left sideline and got out to the 35 before being knocked out of bounds.
.....On 3rd and 16 from the 29, Daimino Stewart lofted another near perfect pass over the top to a receiver sprinting down the middle behind the Ravens' secondary, but the ball went off his outstretched hands. What probably should have been a 71 yard bomb was Stewart's only incompletion of the first half.
.....The Vikings ended up punting. The Raven offense couldn't overcome a holding penalty that nullified a big gain by Ash and set up to punt the ball back to the Vikings from midfield on the first play of the 2nd quarter. Respecting Viking return man Davie Beeks, the Ravens punted the ball out of bounds at the 27. On 2nd and 6, Viking RB Apollo Lewis broke through the middle of Raven defense and then cut outside behind the block of WR Jordan Curtis. He headed down the right sideline before being caught at the 2 by LB Niko Noga. The 67 yard run was the longest of the night for either team. Three plays later Stewart found TE James Hunt wide open in the endzone. Larry Moody's PAT put the Vikings up 14-0 with 12:00 left in the first half.
.....Moody boomed a towering kickoff down to the goal line that Raven Chris Watkins returned out to the 31. Thanks to penalties the Ravens needed 11 plays to move the ball 32 yards to the Viking 37. EJ Ash had two long runs on the drive, but each time Viking CB Ty Williams was able to fight off a block and make a TD saving tackle. On the 12th play of the drive, Viking LB Wanis Nadir sacked Raven QB Casey Hughes for a 12 yard loss forcing another short Ravens punt out of bounds at the Viking 25.
.....Raven LB Niko Noga sacked Stewart for a short loss on first down, but the explosive Viking offense could only be delayed, not stopped. On the very next play Stewart found Beeks on a deep crossing route. Beeks made an exceptional catch taking the ball away from the defender near the right sideline. He headed up the sideline with a convoy of blockers clearing his path. He was just about to be caught from behind by the Raven safety but WR Jordan Curtis came out of no where and blasted him off the field. The 76 yard pass and run was the longest play of the night. If not for a dropped 71 yard TD bomb, Stewart was perfect in his first half as the Vikings starting QB at 3 out of 4 for 148 yards and 3 TDs.
.....Respecting the dangerous return tandem of EJ Ash and Chris Watkins, the Moody kicked the ball short and it was fair caught at the 35 by LB Joe Spangler. On first down Hughes was hit as he threw and his pass sailed right to DB Ty Williams. Williams slipped as he broke on the ball allowing WR Coleman McClaren to come back and make the catch for a 31 yard gain. Three plays on 3rd and 5 from Viking 29, Williams was able to break up another pass but was unable to come up with the interception. On 4th and 5 with just 56 seconds left in the half, the Ravens went to their playmaker. EJ Ash swept right, evaded half the Viking defense near the sideline, and then exploded into the clear for a 22 yard gain. Ash was stopped for just 3 yards by safety Brian Carter on his next run forcing Hughes to spike the ball on 2nd down to stop the clock. LB Chris Stokes came up with a big sack on 3rd down. Scrambling to get a play off, Hughes connected with McClaren on a fade in the right corner of the endzone on 4th down, but the Ravens where penalized for motion on the play. After another Raven motion penalty, Jose Moreno connected on a 36 yard field goal as the clock ran out to put the Ravens on the scoreboard.

.....Both teams must have made effective defensive adjustments at halftime as the teams combined for exactly ZERO yards on 20 offensive plays. The only scoring came on Larry Moody's 35 yard field goal that was set up by a Viking 6 play, 3 yard drive after recovering a blocked punt at the Raven's 21. Moody supplied the highlight of the quarter with a 65 yard punt. The quarter ended with Viking LB Chris Stokes sniffing out a screen pass and nailing EJ Ash for an 8 yard loss on 3rd and 8.
.....On the first play of the 4th quarter, Raven punter Jose Moreno, nationally recognized for his acting ability, came on to punt. The Vikings ran into him causing him to flop and writhe on the ground. The officials were not appreciative of his art and flagged him for a personal foul from the spot. The 26 yard mark off pushed the Ravens back to their 34 were they set up for a 2nd take. The Vikings hit Moreno AGAIN resulting in a Ravens' first down at their 49. The Ravens needed just 3 plays to capitalize. EJ Ash started the drive with a 14 yard run and then finished it with a 38 yard sweep on which he patiently set up his blocks before exploding into the clear untouched. Moreno's PAT made the score 21-10 with 12:49 left.
.....A short Raven kickoff out of bounds away from Davie Beeks set up the Vikings at their own 35. The Vikings were stuffed for a 7 yard loss on first down and a personal foul moved them back another 15. On 3rd and 32 Stewart connected with TE Antwoine Gamble but the play netted just 12 yards. Thinking he could punt the ball over Ash's head again, Moody boomed a 40 yarder right to him. Ash burst through a hole in the coverage leaving only Moody between him and the goal line. Moody made a valiant effort but was no match for Ash's speed. In just 2:09 Ash had changed a 21-3 blowout into a 21-17 game.
.....Another short Raven kickoff was returned by Jordan Curtis to the 41. The Vikings only success came on a Raven personal foul on first down. From there the Raven defense took over with a sack by Charles Fedd and Javonn Walker, and pressure from Roger Fualaau. This time the Vikings punted out of bounds away from Ash. The Viking defense stuffed the Ravens dangerous gound attack holding them to a 3 and out. Moreno boomed a 43 yard punt and Beeks reminded the Ravens why they'd been kicking away from him all night by returning it 17 yards to the 39. The Vikings tried to run out the clock but a costly fumbled snap on 3rd and 1 forced them to punt. EJ Ash's punt return was nullified by a questionable holding penalty which backed the Ravens up to their 10 with under 2:00 left in the game.
.....RB Brandon Lewis was only able to gain 3 yards before being stopped by DL Cedric Reed. Casey Hughes dropped back to pass on 2nd down only to be separated from the ball by Ishmael Easton at the 2. DL Mike Seekins picked up the ball and bounced into the endzone but was ruled down at the one. Two plays later Daimino Stewart was able to go in standing up on a QB sneak behind a powerful surge from the Vikings offensive line. There was a problem with the PAT snap and holder/QB John McCourt picked up the ball and connected with Sam Humble for 2 points.
.....The Vikings kicked off out of bounds to keep the ball away from the Raven returners. A Viking personal foul on the play set up the Ravens at midfield with under a minute to play. On 2nd down Hughes went over the top with a perfectly thrown pass but the receiver dropped the ball. CB Ty Williams broke up the next pass, and the game ended with an incompletion on 4th down.
